NURS 102 - Nursing and Medical Terminology (1 credit) Independent Study only. Nursing and medical terminology for pre-nursing and beginning nursing students or those interested in health occupations. For ESL students only.

NURS 180 - Preview of Nursing (1 credit) [This is a block class]Defines and explores nursing as a potential career opportunity.

NURS 294 - Health Assessment and Health Promotion (3.5 credits) Prerequisite: acceptance to nursing major and concurrent enrollment in Nurs 296 and 298
Emphasis on health promotion, health maintenance, and therapeutic communication. Acquisition and application of health assessment knowledge and skills.

NURS 296- Introduction to Community Health Nursing (3 credits) Prerequisite: acceptance to nursing major and concurrent enrollment in Nurs 294 and 298
Acquisition and application of basic community health nursing concepts. Emphasis on health of groups and/or populations.

NURS 298 - Nursing Care of Older Adults (5 credits) Prerequisite: acceptance to nursing major and concurrent enrollment in Nurs 294 and 296
Acquisition and application of basic nursing skills with older adults in residential and inpatient settings.

NURS 300 - Pharmacology in Nursing (2 credits) Prerequisite: Nurs 294, 296, 298, and concurrent enrollment in Nurs 330.
Introduction to common categories of drugs, their action, use, desired and undesired effects, and implications for nursing care.

NURS 320 - Nursing Research (2 credits) Prerequisite: Advanced Writing, Stat 221 or other statistics course, Nurs 294, 296, 298, 300, and 330.
Analysis and critique of research in nursing practice. Must be taken before Nurs 490.

NURS 330 - Nursing Care of Adults with Acute and Chronic Illnesses (9 Credits) Prerequisite: Nurs 294, 296, 298, and concurrent enrollment in Nurs 300.
Acquisition and application of knowledge and skills necessary to provide nursing care to the adult patient with acute and chronic illness.

NURS 339 - Ethics in Nursing (3 credits) Prerequisite: Nurs 294, 296 and 298. Overview of ethical principles and theories with emphasis on role of ethics in nursing; instruction and practice in advanced written and oral communication skills for professional nursing practice. Offered Fall and Winter (This course also fills a University Avanced Written and Oral Communication requirement.)

NURS 340 - Nursing Care of the Childbearing Family (4 credits) Prerequisite: Nurs 294, 296, 298, 300, 330, and concurrent enrollment in Nurs 350 and 400.
Care of childbearing families from diverse backgrounds. Emphasis on health promotion, assessment, and interventions related to complicated and uncomplicated pregnancy and birth.

NURS 360 - Nursing Care of the Childrearing Family (4 credits) Prerequisite: Nurs 294, 296, 298, 300, 330, and concurrent enrollment in Nurs 350 and 400.
Care of children and their families from diverse backgrounds. Emphasis on health promotion/illness prevention, care of acute and chronic illness, and growth and development.

NURS 400 - Global Health and Human Diversity (4 credits) Prerequisite: Nurs 294, 296, 298, 300, 330, and concurrent enrollment in Nurs 340 and 350.
Theory and practice of nursing in diverse populations within a global context.

NURS 460 - Psychiatric Nursing (3 credits) Prerequisite: Nurs 294, 296, 298, 300, 330, 340, 350, 400, and concurrent enrollment in Nurs 470.
Nursing care for clients with complex psychiatric disorder.

NURS 470 - Nursing Care of Adults in Crisis (7 credits) Prerequisite: Nurs 294, 296, 298, 300, 330, 340, 350, 400, and concurrent enrollment in Nurs 460.
Nursing intervention for individuals and families in crisis.

NURS 480 - Nursing Senior Seminar (1 credit) Prerequisite: Nurs 294, 296, 298, 300, 320, 330, 340, 350, 400, 460, 470 and concurrent enrollment in Nurs 490.
Focuses on the characteristics of the nursing profession and professional behaviors and values. Includes a review of nursing history.

NURS 490 - Capstone (8 credits) Prerequisite: Nurs 294, 296, 298, 300, 320, 330, 340, 350, 400, 460, 470 and concurrent enrollment in Nurs 480.
Clinical synthesis experience with focus on planning, delivering, and managing patient care in complex environments. Leadership components will be incorporated into clinical.

NURS 499R - Honor Thesis.(1-3 credits) Honors thesis preparation.
