College of Nursing

 Ghana 2011

Twelve students spent four weeks in Abomosu, Ghana, a remote village an hour north of Accra. They spent time working in local clinics and teaching in the schools in three rural areas. They partnered with World Joy to provide health teaching to people in the various communities. While there, they learned about the health care system, the culture and the everyday life of the people.

Student Reflections:

"I believe that the nursing interventions we provided for individuals and communities were very well received by the people. After reflecting back on these interventions, I realize there are ways to be more culturally appropriate. We were able to do a little research in-country and were able to incorporate that information in our future lessons."
