Step 1:

If you already know how to put the poster together, create your own poster using PowerPoint. If you do not know how to make the poster, continue to Step 2.

Step 2:

Bring all information (text, graphics, tables, graphs, pictures, etc.) to the Executive Affairs Secretary. The secretary will help determine the poster layout.

If you are not able to create your own PowerPoint presentation, the Research Secretary will need to know the text, format, (background, design template, color), and any tables, charts, or graphic wanted.

Allow 1-2 weeks to prepare.

If you are able to create your own PowerPoint but need assistance with the format (background, font, design template, color), bring a disc of the PowerPoint to the Research Secretary and she will complete the PowerPoint according to your specifications.

Allow 1 week to complete.

Faculty and Students may contact Natalie Blades, College of Nursing Statistics Consultant, for assistance (422-5076; blades@stats.byu.edu).

The Research Secretary is available to type forms or applications (abstract submission, grant application). She is also able to type editing changes made by faculty on manuscripts. See the Research Secretary for details.

A scanner is available in the Research Center to scan graphics, photos, diagrams, texts, etc. Contact the Research Secretary or the Computer Support Representative for assistance.

Faculty using the On-Call RA will be expected to submit an evaluation of the work done by the RA on call as well as a detailed list of work done by the RA on call.

Students may apply to be an RA or TA in the Research Center. They need to fill out a green application form and leave it with the Research Secretary. She will then let faculty know the names of students who are interested in being a RA/TA. If a faculty member wants to hire a specific student, the faculty member needs to fill out a yellow form and then attach it to the green form the student has completed. Both forms should be given to the Research Secretary.

The Research Office can provide manuscript assistance, including:

1. Reviewing for consistency with journal or publication requirements (e.g. APA format).
