Biography

Marc-Aurel Martial is an Assistant Professor in the College of Nursing at Brigham Young University. He enjoys learning, teaching, and assisting other people, including students, in the pursuit of their noblest aspirations. One of his career goals is to become a global health researcher with a focus on reducing maternal and childhood anemia by improving access to essential public health services and health outcomes among disadvantaged populations, primarily in rural Haiti. His research and teaching interests align with his humanitarian objectives. Marc-Aurel was raised in Haiti and immigrated to the United States. He and his wife are the parents of two boys and one girl. He loves his native land and has a passion for planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating sustainable projects. His service to Haiti is one of the small ways he can pay it forward. He enjoys spending time with family, walking, hiking, biking, and playing racquetball and ping pong. He is the founder of Haiti Health Initiative (HHI), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. HHI and its Haitian sister organization seek to improve the overall health and well-being of rural Haitians through economic development initiatives and the provision of education and services in primary health care, dental care, nutrition and public health.
