Biography
Dr. Stacie Hunsaker is an associate teaching professor and the undergraduate nursing program director at Brigham Young University. Before this appointment, she was the simulation program coordinator for the College of Nursing. Dr. Hunsaker has worked 27 of her 34 years in nursing in emergency departments (ED) in the roles of staff nurse, charge nurse, nurse manager, simulation facilitator, and nurse educator. She continues to work as a bedside ED nurse. Stacie enjoys educating healthcare providers and continues to teach in the hospital setting. She maintains board certifications in emergency nursing, pediatric emergency nursing, nursing education, nursing leadership, and simulation healthcare education. Dr. Hunsaker was a founding member of the Utah Simulation Coalition and helped develop a simulation training program that educates academicians on formal simulation best practices. Dr. Hunsaker is the recipient of the Outstanding MSN to DNP student, University of Utah 2021; the DAISY faculty award, 2019; the Distinguished Leadership Award from the Emergency Nurses Association, 2015; and the Educator Excellence award from Intermountain Healthcare, 2012. She serves on various committees for evaluation and education, including two appointments to international nursing organization committees. Stacie is an active participant and board member of multiple professional organizations.
