In his 2021 University Conference address, then Academic Vice President Shane Reese stated that "We have need of gospel methodologies to address the pressing issues of our day." He further quoted Elder David A. Bednar saying "At BYU we can truly focus on the spiritual and practical substance of solutions and not just on superficial symbolism.
