In Taiwan, healthcare practices have deep ties to the region’s heavy Buddhist influence. BYU professors Ryan Rasmussen and Stacie Hunsaker accompanied 20 nursing students to the country, where they observed these cultural differences in medicine firsthand and learned to love the culture.

Professor Craig Nuttall and Stacie Hunsaker have been selected as Fellows of the American Academy of Nursing. This is one of the highest honors a nurse can be given, and it is indicative of their dedication to and impact on the field.

Dr. Hunsaker researches literature on traumatic brain injuries in sexual assault and/or intimate partner violence survivors. Her studies increase awareness and care by teaching nurses to assess for traumatic injury and teaching patients how to appropriately care for themselves afterwards.

Eve Larsen (BS ‘56) is a member of the first graduating class from the BYU College of Nursing. At almost 91 years old, her legacy has inspired dozens of her family members to join the nursing profession. We sat down with Eve and asked her some questions about her time at BYU and her nursing career to capture her memories for the generations to come!
